In a previous life I worked as an Outward Bound tutor in the English Lake District and I used take the group photographs, develop the black and white prints and sell to the students. I did a post graduate diploma in Typography and graphic communication in the last recession and afterwards worked for a large magazine printer. Their largest customer, Reed Business Publications were very particular about quality and I invested in drum scanners and learned about oil mounting to get the best quality from transparencies. I learned too about colour correction and photoshop editing work in a fast paced environment where quality was extremely important.
Nowadays I coach kayaking, sell kayaks, repair kayaks and take a lot of photos of kayaking events. In the last year I have started doing more portraiture and experimenting with lighting. I'm fascinated by photography, capturing the moment and the essence of the person in the scene.
