I have been working on and off as a professional artist for almost 20 years. I make my paintings using photos I take of models that I hire. Paid modeling only, and you get copies of all photos that you can use for any non-commercial purpose (self promotion is fine). I publish no photos except examples that I get prior permission from the model to publish.

A big part of my studio process is getting the model in natural interesting looking positions without actually 'posing'. The difference being how natural the person looks. When looking at the photo, is it clear that the model knows the camera is there? I want it to feel like the answer is no.
I get those natural poses by have the model move a lot over a period of hours. I set up lighting that allows me to take photos continuously or nearly so.
