About Me

My parents put a SLR camera in my hands when I was 8 years old and from that point on I was definitely hooked. However, it wasn’t until I went to school at Auburn, that I was able to really expand my photography skills. Most of my older work was on black and white film. Shooting 100% B&W was significantly less expensive and offered me the chance to process and print all of my own photographs.

In 2001, with the introduction of higher end digital cameras that were capable of producing near film quality images, I switched from film to all digital. I’m currently shooting with the new Canon 7D and plan on moving up to the full frame 5D at some point this year. I also use nothing but LD grade glass.

Other than commissioned shoots, all of my work is for iStock photo. If you’re not familiar with iStock, take a look at their site (www.istockphoto.com). Stock photo sites are where most design artists go for images they want to use in advertisements, publications, newsletters, websites, etc.

The current trend in advertising is to use shots taken out of the studio. Nothing overly elaborate; just high quality photos of people doing every day things like jogging, talking on cell phones, using their MP3 players, gardening, etc. Pick up any magazine and look through the advertisements. Chances are, the images used came from a stock photography site. Several iStock photos have even wound up on the cover of Time Magazine!

If you’re looking to build your portfolio with commercial grade photos, I’d love to discuss a shoot.
