MODELS, PLEASE READ: If you are going to randomly send me an email with your rates because you are traveling to my town, keep in mind my rate as a Published and Gallery Exhibited Professional Photographer is $250 per hour with a two-hour minimum. If you have a creative idea you'd like to work out as a trade-for-prints situation, we can do that as well. And if I have a specific project for a client that requires a model, then yes, I will pay your rate and will reach out to you. More detail on how this actually works:

The model should pay the photographer if there is a value proposition in it for him/her:

1. It’s a personal photo unconnected with the model’s professional work. (eg, wedding, graduation, family photos.) Just because you are signed with a model agency (or have a modelmayhem account) doesn’t entitle you to have a professional photographer shoot your wedding for free. (I’ve seen this request made more than once)
2. The photographer’s work will improve the model’s portfolio, but the model won’t improve the photographer’s portfolio.
3. The model’s agency requires them to do a paid test with an agency photographer as a condition of employment.
4. The model is going to be monetizing the images on a personal website, premium snapchat, patreon, or some other for-profit purpose.

The photographer should pay the model when:

1. The model will improve the photographer’s portfolio, but the photographer won’t improve the photographer’s portfolio. Notice that the amount of clothing the model is wearing is not a factor. It’s the respective strengths of their portfolios that matter.
2. A client is paying the photographer for commercial work and the photographer is paying the model with the client’s money.
3. The photographer is doing personal or speculative work which they hope to sell, and the work doesn’t improve the model’s portfolio or create monetization opportunities for them.

Trade/testing is appropriate when:

1. The photos will benefit both parties equally.
2. The shoot scratches a creative itch for both parties, without regard for monetization.

Photographer, Filmmaker, Composer, Industrial Designer - with my short film, "Isobel & The Witch Queen" world premiering on the main stage at the 2012 Macworld, and my follow-up stop-motion animation short film "The Haunting at Danford Cabin" winning the 2012 iPhone Film Festival (and featured in 6 other festivals worldwide), I am now refocusing my energy back to photography... specifically Editorial and Fashion work.

I'm looking for Models, Hair & Makeup artists and Production/Costume Designers to collaborate with; to build up our portfolios with the goal of doing editorial work for magazines (Vogue Italia, etc.)

Other info: My photography along with a couple of experimental videos of mine was exhibited at the Orange County Center For Contemporary Art from March 31st through April 30th 2011, at the Arty Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles, May and June of 2011, and at the Giorgi Gallery in Berkeley, CA., September 22nd through October 30, 2011. My work has also been published in numerous magazines and books regardless if I shot with my iPhone, or my Pinhole camera, a plastic toy Holga camera, or my Hasselblad 500C/M.
