Investing in the services of a professional make up artist sets the tone for a productive shoot. Occasionally I have that model/client that can do it themselves. More often the impact of the shoot is cut short when make up is self applied or a friend does it. There is a huge difference between the make up worn for everyday use and make up used in a shoot.

Another thing is hair and nails. Cameras are extremely advanced and capture details not easily seen until you are looking at a large image of yourself. You will benefit from having a fresh hair style or well blended extensions. Painted nails typically only work if the color compliments the wardrobe. Quite a few of your images will show your hands and wardrobe. Ensure everything is in harmony. That perfect pose with the perfect angle, lighting, and setting will quickly become imperfect if the model falls short on any of the above!

Keep in mind that you may not be the only one sending images to where or whomever. Show that you are serious. Businesses are more willing to invest in someone that is willing to invest in themselves. If you don’t think you are worth it, why should someone else?
