About Me

Thank you for stopping by my page on Model Mayhem. I am a studio photographer in the Washington, DC metro area and a member of the photography co-operative at the Carriage House Studio.  I also book time at Union 206 in Alexandria, VA.

I began my studio work with a focus on figurative and fine art photography and while I still enjoy the geometry, form and classical beauty of figure work, my interests have recently moved towards a focus on fashion, concept and editorial photography.
I wish I could say that photography is my full-time profession but alas, it is not.  Because of that I try to book one or two shoots per month to ease the strain on the budget.  However, when I do schedule a shoot, it is centered on a specific concept or general theme that is laid out before the shoot takes place.

I view the relationship between model and photographer to be collaborative and free-flowing.  I am open to ideas and suggestions even if they deviate from the original plan.  All that matters is getting the right shot at the right moment.  My focus is on creating art and I love to work with models who share in that mindset.  Some of the best ideas and images come from an “in-the-moment” spark of creativity.

I treat my photography seriously just as I expect models to treat their work.  I will never do anything that makes a model uncomfortable or place them in a situation that they object to. The creative relationship between the photographer and the model must be professional above all else.

For models I work with: I will contact you first by e-mail to schedule a time for the studio or location I want to use.  During the initial conversation, I will describe my vision for the shoot and discuss ideas for props and ask for your input and suggestions.  48 hours before the shoot I will reconfirm with you to ensure that the model can still make it.  The model must confirm with me within the 48 hours before the shoot and then reconfirm the morning of the shoot. Life happens when you are making plans, and I understand we all have unexpected issues that spring up from time to time.  However, time is money and I’d rather not pay for an empty studio.  So if you think you will have a problem making the shoot, err on the side of caution and let me know as early as possible.

A note on escorts:  As a rule, I generally do not like to work with models who bring escorts.  I have found it can disrupt the flow of a shoot and serve as a distraction.  However, if it is absolutely necessary, I hope that escort wouldn’t mind holding a reflector or a scrim wink.

My Artistic Vision for Figurative Photography:

The great Ansel Adams said, “You don’t take a photograph.  You make it.” The images I make through my camera are intended to express the symmetry, drama, and beauty of the human body. With each composition I strive to display the inherent power of the female form, which exudes strength through femininity, and power through grace.

I have worked with some absolutely amazing and talented models through Model Mayhem.  They include:

"I had a great shoot with Palantiri Photography! He was professional and respectful in our communications and during the shoot. I really appreciated his level of organization and preparedness during the planning process, which allowed us to be on the same page conceptually while working together. I hope we can work together again sometime!" Read less
