About Me

** I shoot TFCD with models who interest me - feel free to inquire (...generally. Reserving the right to approve edits and sell prints.) **
** I act professionally, communicate, and keep appointments, I expect the same! I'm happy to do more shoots, but my time is valuable and I'm on the verge of charging a deposit. I will of course accept paid shoots that interest me, I don't currently pay for sessions. I shoot for the creativity. **

I started shooting with my first camera at about 7, since then I've always had some sort of a camera around. I shot B&W film on an old AE-1 Program in school and had a great time spending hours in the dark room. I studied briefly with a B&W photographer as time allowed. Eventually got frustrated with the limitations of film as digital started coming into its own... borrowed digital cameras from friends or family and finally picked up a nice dSLR of my very own. Over the years I've always been a Canon person, although I understand it to be more a matter of personal preference.

I almost *never* go anywhere with out my camera. I enjoy nature photography, food photography, a little architecture, and have had fun photographing people periodically. I've thought about going full time... but for now I've kept it as something I love to do on the side.

I've collected fairly nice core gear over the years, although there are still plenty of fun accessories I haven't picked up yet (16-35LII picked up today!). I shoot with mostly natural light, but I've also started playing with some studio gear. I have some formal training and study, but mostly I have a natural eye for framing and many years of carrying a camera with me. =)

I make it a point to try and get a great artistic image with out using Photoshop. Digital editing can produce some amazing prints. Not to say that I'm beyond the occasional toying with an image, or saving an otherwise great shot with a bit of dust spotting, but I tend to be a purest in creating the images I capture.

I'm up for just about any sort of photography (minus sports and SM etc.), although I have more experience with some types. I've done a lot of photography, but haven't had as much experience in some situations. If it's not interesting, artistic, and creative - I would definitely want to be compensated for my time... For a model I find beautiful/fit and easy to work with (including good communication and reliability), who is interested in playing around with light and doing something creative, I'd be happy to do a trade for portfolio images. It's unlikely I would be hiring for a shoot, as this is something I do out of pocket because I enjoy it. Aside from my images, you can get an idea of some of the sorts of images that intrigue me from my DA favorites (link at the top.)

I'm interested in doing more figure study type shoots playing with extremes in lighting high key / low key. Playing with candles or possibly other alternative light sources. Possibly some very slow exposures, playing with effects, light painting, and other such things as the idea arises.

5D-MII / 24-70mm 2.8L / 100mm 2.8L Macro / 70-300mm IS / 16-35mm 2.8L II / FastPack 200 / Monfrotto 055CXPRO3 054-Q2 / ...and I finally picked up some lighting gear to play with. =)

If you have something interesting in mind, feel free to let me know. Hope you appreciate the samples I have up. One of these days I'll get more of my photography up after finishing my website. Enjoy. :)
