Had a successful Bodies on the Line exhibition at Ink Remedy in Leederville - Part of FRINGEWORLD 2017


UPDATE:

Had another successful Bodies on the Line 2015 Exhibition, part of FRINGEWORLD 2015, at Cafe Murano 391 Hay St, Subiaco.

(A quote from a review:

“Connectivity between artist and model is achieved through active conversation during the drawing sessions as well as allowing the models to choose poses for themelves. Grant uses charcoal on paper to capture each model’s mood during individual sessions. Dialogue is recorded during the sessions and excerpts may be later written onto the works in the model’s own hand. Grant finishes each piece by adding touches of paint in an abstract style and the result is natural and simple yet starkly emotional. I found myself connecting with the drawings, as if I was looking through a keyhole and experiencing a private moment in each model’s life.”

Most of my recent works are figures in charcoal and mixed media.


A bit about the Bodies on the Line concept:

Bodies on the Line is a project by David Grant and a group of models who put their bodies on the line to have their say, about the environment, sustainability, relationships, work, study, religion, politics - in fact any topic they feel strongly about. In practice it means on-going serious discussion between the model and artist during all stages of the work. The end result is a collaboration between artist and model. The poses and often abstract art work in the background are inspired by the mood and conversation of the model. The hand-written words on the works are comments written by the models. All comments accompanying the pictures in the Bodies on the Line books are those of the model depicted.




Exhibitions
In February 2004 was an invited participant in the UNCLAD 2004 exhibition held at the Utsalady Bay Gallery, Camano Island, Washington State, USA.

In May 2004 and April 2005 held exhibitions at the Old Bakery on 8th Avenue Gallery and in November 2005 at the Blender Gallery Joondalup.

In September 2004, August 2005, September 2006 and August 2007 held solo exhibitions at QV1 in Perth where he was the invited Artist in Residence for their Spring Festival.

In March 2011 held exhibition “Tales of a Mid-Life Wife” at the Atwell Art Centre, Perth

In October 2012 held exhibition “A Mayhem of Models” at the Atwell Art Centre,
Perth
