Hello, my name is A J.

I have recently retired and now have time to pursue my hobbies (video production and more recently stills photography). I am thinking of setting up a media enterprise and I am looking to develop my portfolio. I am therefore seeking to learn from my more experienced peers, be they models, photographers, make-up artists or anyone who is able to help me progress. I feel that joining Model Mayhem will offer me the opportunity to receive feedback on my developing work.

My work ranges in style and content but I try to focus on finding the real person in the photograph and so I try to work with natural models in "real situations". The emphasis is on developing an interest in the person and the context to provoke some thought or emotion for the observer as they try to join the story.

At this stage of my career, I am keen to learn from others and am therefore happy to pay for my model's time and prepared to travel. I have not yet taken the major step of investing in a studio so I am happy to photograph in homes or in quality hotels. These suit the "real" feeling that I am hoping to reflect in my work.

I am usually available to work on weekdays during the day or in the evening by appointment.

Prior to my retirement I worked in education and training and therefore I believe I have the "people" skills to relate well to new contacts and soon put them at ease. This again benefits my work as the shoots become comfortable, relaxing and fun.

I hope that some site users will feel that they can help me as I develop and in return I can provide work where they feel they have participated.
