It was after stepping into a darkroom during a multimedia college course that I first realized my future lay in photography. I’ll never forget the enticing smell of the developing chemicals or the thrill of that dim little room, and from that day in 2003 I have never looked back. I took an introductory course in Multimedia and Photography, and after that an HNC in Professional Photography and Imaging. After a stint in nightclub photography, running the successful Modern-Image.co.uk, I now specialize in landscapes, interiors and exteriors, weddings and portrait photography.

Photography isn’t just a hobby for me; it’s my profession and my way of life. As an easy-going and fun-loving guy from Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, I like to translate these qualities into my work. When photographing people I always try to not only capture that special moment in time, but to also frame the subject’s personality, mood and feelings, as these are what really make a photograph unique.

I’m passionate about landscapes and have travelled to some incredible locations around the world including Thailand, Jamaica, Egypt and my native Scottish wilderness – sometimes hiking and camping for days on end, just to flawlessly frame that perfect light or moment. Closer to home, I grow my own organic vegetables and flowers from seed and document their growth through bright, bold macro photographs that visualize the very essence of life.

With an arsenal of Nikon cameras and numerous filters and lenses at my disposal, my photographs have been published in a number of magazines including Digital Photography, Is, Press & Journal, the Evening Express, and the Scottish Trade & Licensing magazine. I’ve worked with some big names including the BBC, BBC 1Extra, Kanye West, Plan B, the Smirnoff Experience, Le Monde, BP, Shell, Chevron and many, many more. I’ve been nominated for Digital Photography magazine’s Best Black & White Photograph award, and was runner up for the Professional Photographer’s Best Landscape award.
