About Me

ABOUT ME & MY WORK:

After several years of black & white film photography, a successful figure photo shoot in 2001 inspired me to work regularly with models.

Eager to explore diverse styles, the figure imagery soon led to glamour, pinup, lingerie, alt-glamour, fetish and erotica; my film experiments included sepia and x-processed color, before I reluctantly switched to digital. During that time, my work was featured in books, magazines, websites, and gallery shows, and I led workshops, shot private commissions and events. Then I noticed my photography had become more routine than fun. I was neglecting other visual subject matter, relying more on process and feeling less inspired. So I hit the reset button, took down my work and pointed my camera in other directions.

After taking a long hiatus to recharge and focus on travel, landscapes, abstract, architecture and other subjects, I felt it was time to get back to collaborating with women to create new sensual, stylish visuals. Admittedly, there's a little rust I have to shake off, but I (re)learn quickly. ;)

As part of this reboot, I've retired my previous work, but I can provide "Version 1.0" images and well-known references upon request.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR NOW:

I'm still drawn to B&W and the styles that initially inspired me to aim my Pentax K1000 at the female form. Visual artists such as Helmut Newton, Man Ray, Edward Weston, Garry Winogrand, Gunter Blum and Herb Ritts, among many others, continue to spark my imagination and influence my approach, and I often manipulate my digital work to emulate the look and feel of film.

I prefer working with women who have a creative background (arts, dance, music), bring their own ideas to the table and embrace shoots as a collaborative process. I've found those criteria to be more important than level of experience -- though experience sure doesn't hurt -- but a positive attitude trumps everything.

Ideally, I'd like to find a few creative partners to collaborate with semi-regularly, in the Philly, New York City and DC areas, as well as cities I visit regularly (Las Vegas, New Orleans, San Francisco). I'm also interested in networking with other visual pros in those areas (MUAs, photogs) potentially for books and other publishing projects, workshops, group shoots and gallery shows.

Since I'm currently building a new portfolio, TF* is my focus at this time. If you'd like to discuss ideas and possibilities for working together, please drop me a line.
