About Me

I'm always open to sending items to models and photographers to use in photoshoots depending on if I can use the images to sell my products. Just let me know if you have anything in mind and I can make it happen.
My life Story:
Near the end of College 1994, feeling somewhat out of place in Amarillo, I attempted to reach outside to like minded, creative souls by publishing my own worldwide pen pal zine 'The Gate' which got an honorable mention in Mick Mercer's reference book 'Hex Files'.
I used my connections from my publication as an avenue to sell my handmade gloves, hats, and jewelry under the name 'Kimberly's Closet'.
Years later after a long hiatus and settling cosily into a family of four, I decided to revamp 'Kimberly's Closet' and started an online custom accessory store 'SlipshodSally', which got the attention of Gothic Beauty fashion editor, Acid Poptart, resulting an interview.
I discovered a knack for photography and makeup artistry while creating promotional photos for my site.
In 2006, I took the advice of a friend and made a portfolio to join the Amarillo M.A.C. team to further my makeup skills and got work published in the M.A.C. Spring 2009 update book. Working at M.A.C. Fed my makeup addiction and allowed me excellent training, but alas, it was still just an over glorified job at the mall and allowed me zero time to create as SlipshodSally.
I departed from M.A.C. to explore freelancing in June 2011.
One of the best decisions I ever made!
My life is a balancing act. I juggle being a wife, a mother, an artist. As long
as I can remember, I have been consumed to create and beautify my little
world that I dream in. Slipshod, my work is anything but. I'm obsessively
picky about the quality of work I create: blending the perfect cheek,
drawing the straightest liner, finding the prettiest lighting, engineering the
most divine concept.
I'm a magpie collector of tattered and rusty, forgotten objects, adding these to my designs to invoke mystery. Many of my pieces have an ancient feel to them that I work very hard to create, often dyeing fabrics and distressing trims to get that unique shabby look. This is why I chose the name SlipshodSally as an alter ego.
My trades are many and growing. I am seldom still. If I am not sewing you can bet I'm making up faces or tinkering with my camera.
