Growing up a tom boy it's funny to imagine that I am a makeup artist today. I remember being in my early teens and dabbling into my grandmother's makeup. Without a doubt, I can thank her for my fascination with makeup for the fact that she was an Estee Lauder Makeup Associate for over ten years. There were palettes all around her bathroom. Pinks and reds, brushes, pencils and trays upon trays of eye shadows filled her drawers and closets. I never thought about my formal fine art training and my grandmother's collection being the perfect ingredients for my future ahead. I love the idea that makeup has no limitations, that the look can be changed and changed again. It's incredible that makeup can take on many different forms and that being a makeup artist I can transform an entire mood, therefore empowering that person. I've taught myself through trial and error to always be innovative and not be afraid to take risks. Makeup is an abstract form of art and there are no rules. My job is to magnify the existing beauty that my client has. Makeup can do more than just manipulate eyes and bone structure; it adds depth, captures a new persona, and creates this extraordinary, imaginative world!
