About Me

Hello everyone. Let me start by telling that my “real” job is being an attorney. I do a lot of commercial and corporate law, and a ton of business litigation. It gets very stressful, so my part-time work is photography. I run it with my wife as Provocative Publishers a/k/a Signature Publishers for the more "mainstream" crowd. My ultimate goal is to publish a book of my work, somewhat like you would see from Goliath. Maybe someday the time I spend on each will swap ;)

I’m a fairly experienced photographer. Well, so-so. I travel to Southeast Asia frequently, where I’ve been doing most of my shooting. You’ll see representative pictures in my portfolio which were taken in Vietnam. Why Vietnam? I lived there for roughly two years to work for a client. While I was there I met my Vietnamese wife. She is also my make-up artist and she coordinates clothing with the models. So, while you’re always welcome to bring an escort with you to one of my shoots, please remember – I’ll have one too ;) But please, only one escort. It’s already hard enough maneuvering around the lights, bags, etc.

I shoot with a Canon 7D with L glass. All of my lighting is done with PocketWizard wireless flash units with lightweight light modifiers that are run off from a Quantum battery pack because I travel so much with my gear and the airlines can really give you a hassle if you go over their magic number of 50 lbs. I can get everything into a fairly small footprint and moderate weight. I am thinking about the new Einstein. It is powerful yet small, lightweight, and can use 110V or 220V power. Very handy.

I’m a glamour photographer. (Note: That’s not fashion photographer). That’s all I do except for the family and my dog. Honestly, and to be straight forward, I take pictures of beautiful women in various risque states of undress. I’d rather spend hours working for the “perfect shot” with a beautiful woman with perfect makeup versus a beautiful mountain with a perfect sunset. I also enjoy modern and retro pinup shoots, which I think run along the same line. Again, see a Goliath book to see what I mean (well, the ones without overt nudity).

I don’t do any nude photography for several reasons. Nude shots are an art unto themselves, and I just don’t have the talent or any interest in developing it. Also, my style is what I call the “Christmas package” shot. Who wants to have a package that is already opened? Isn’t it better to have a shot that suggests what lies underneath without actually revealing it? I think the anticipation is priceless. With that being said, the lingerie and open blouse shots will be fairly risque. I’ve also had success with the ever-so-slightly protruding nipple or cooter – discovered once totally by accident. I’m always open to suggestions.

Tattoos and excessive body piercings. As Seinfeld would say, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but for me, they don’t suit my fancy. All tattoos would have to be “coverable” and all body piercings save earrings would have to be removed. I’m open to suggestions if you disagree. And the 5" platform shoes? You can leave them at home! This isn't porn ;) Virtually any kind of jewelry, including wedding rings, is fine. In fact, I may slip a wedding ring on you for the effect.

Age. No preference. I am very comfortable shooting women in their 30's, 40's, 50's ... Sexiness has nothing to do with age alone. The youngest I would go is 21 due to the nature of the photography.

Since I am a lawyer – you guessed it – I need a signed release giving me the right to copyright and reproduce all images. I will need a copy of your driver’s license prior to the shoot because the release will be notarized. Vietnamese models will have to sign one in Vietnamese / English and produce a copy of their government-issued ID card. If you have no desire to potentially end up in a book someday, you should not do a shoot with me. This is particularly true for compensated models. However, your name and contact information will be credited if you wish. Please let me know your preference beforehand so I can have the appropriate documents ready.

Upon request I’ll give any model a series of shots for their portfolio by email, but only with the agreement that no logos or copyright notices will be removed. Please don’t ask me to give you a CD “on the spot” with all of the photos on it. It just won’t happen. First, they would not have my logo or copyright on them. Second, I do not want my trash photos out there. But you don’t have to worry about getting your prints. I’m a licensed lawyer, I take my responsibilities very seriously, and I’m easy to track down.

So, if you’re a model and have an interest in getting together now that you know who I am, give me a shout. My office number is 865-673-0330. I’m open to traveling anywhere, but obviously the closer to Tennessee the easier it would be for both of us. Any place in Vietnam or Singapore, any Southern state, any New England state, or Canada between New York and Montreal would be ideal. Initial communication by email is probably the best place to start so we can determine compensation, what styles you are looking for to add to your portfolio, any ideas you have for the shoot (which are ALWAYS welcome!), what clothes and props you may have, scheduling, blah blah blah.

Compensation (both ways!) is negotiable. Remember, I can also help you out with a trade in services. I can incorporate your modeling business, set you up with contracts and releases, and help you with copyrights and protection of your work. I’m licensed in California, New York, Tennessee and, believe it or not, Vietnam. But this kind of law is easily adaptable in all 50 states.

Friends? Sure! And you don’t need to mail me, tag me, explain to me ... or even pay me ;) Happy to have all of you as friends!

Oh, and if you just need a lawyer? You can find my firm’s web site at www.my-law.net ;)

Pleased to meet you!

Dale.
