I have always dreamed of moving to New York and becoming a successful make-up artist; working on Broadway or in the movies, behind the glare of the bright lights. I found myself growing weary and restless in my day to day routine of dead-end jobs and close-minded people. I finally got tired of asking myself, “what if” and determined that if I didn’t follow my dreams now, I would end up settling into a mundane existence, living with regret the rest of my life for not pursuing my passion. Now, as a mother of two small children myself, for the first time, just like my Nona, I have chosen to strike out on my own, leaving my native California to a land foreign to me…New yORK. I may not be coming from Italy, but I still feel a world away from my family, friends, the life and world I am accustomed to, yet hopeful that I am now starting to realize my full potential.
It seems only right that I would have a passion for makeup. I have an outgoing personality and a love for beauty and making people feel beautiful, not just on the outside, but on the inside as well. I have come to view the blending of colors, the tones and imagery as an art form and, in a sense, a form of therapy, not just for my models, but for myself. When a woman looks into the mirror and smiles confidently at herself after getting her makeup done by me, I feel I have made an instrumental contribution to that moment and the emotion captured therein. It is this energy and excitement that I hope to capture in being a professional make-up artist.
