About Me

Hey folks. I'm Cliff Hicks, and by day I'm a game designer/producer, and I've worked on a number of huge titles that you may have seen over the years in some fashion, including Command & Conquer and The Sims. But I started as a journalist with a passing interest in photography, and over the years I've let my hobby continue to grow and blossom. Once I'd gotten stable enough in the games industry to have a little cash to burn, I moved into digital photography and have been dabbling ever since.

Last year I did my first fine art nude workshop (with Bailey Devonish, from here!) and had a great experience, and lined up another one this year. I typically do 1-2 shoots with models a year, I'm picky about who I work with and I like to make sure my photos have some life in them. I've also enjoyed shooting live concerts, from big shows like Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction to the tiny clubs where you're fighting against the lighting every step of the way. I may try and kick my number of model shoots up to doing 4-6 a year, depending on the luck that I have moving forward.

In addition to that, I'm known to do non-nude shoots where I'm attempting to get a look/pose/feel for a game design project I'm working on, and have been known to contract people out for a few hours as I attempt to get a dozen or so good images that I can give to an art team as a starting point for reference.

As such, most of my photographs are personal/private collections, but I do take a great deal of pride in my work. I like working with models who have a sense of personality, a sense of humor, a quick smile and a love of what they do. I try to be as personable as possible when I'm working, and often put on music to help set the mood for the shots I'm trying to get. (I also worked as a music critic for half a decade, so I can talk music on almost any genre for a long time!)

The goal here is mostly meet new models for individual projects, and to occasionally showcase my work. I haven't done contract work in a while, but if a model is looking to capture the more lighthearted side of her personality on camera (with or without clothes!), I might be available, depending on my schedule and the model's.
