I’ve built my career around painting couples in motion. Quick energetic touches explore the dynamics of relationship as told through dance or couples at play. Swing dance or pillow fighting is all the same to me: a way to tell stories of human interaction.

I exhibit my work at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery in Philadelphia, with solo shows in New York, Chicago, and San Diego as well. I recently had my first museum show at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington, DE. I recieved my MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 and my BFA from Western Carolina University in 1996.

When I’m not traveling the country working with models and dancers that range from the professional to the celebrity, I live in Gaithersburg, MD with my wife and children.

I work with models in photo shoots either dancing, wrestling, or pillow fighting. With my focus on motion, having models hold a pose doesn’t get me what I need. Therefore, the photo shoots are necessary to create the energy that carries into my painting. These images are then used as the foundation for my work.
