Hi there! My name is Royce Johnson, but for my work, I go by my handle poeticRogue.
That name came to be, when I wanted to give my alter ego a name. What it means to me,
Is that in my poetry, I follow my own rules for writing. No guidelines. Photography it also my
Poetry. My own saying is, “To me, a picture is poetry without words.” And that can be seen in my
Work. You can feel the emotion, and often times, it reads a different story to someone different.
Same applies here, no guidelines. How it is, is how it’s meant to be. So naturally the name was fitting.

I wanted to display this other self and give it more of a life, incorporating the name into
my Facebook display name. As you can imagine, I do create poetry and stories.
I remember starting early as age 14 or so. Creativity has always run through my veins, even
without conscience of it.

Before now, picture taking, be it with cell phone camera, VGA resolution camera, sticky film Polaroid etc.
I have always had interest in the task. It was always casual shooting and never thought anything
past it. In 2005, I had access to Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D. This DSLR was my first experience with a
professional camera. Even still, I shot very casual. Took pictures of people, still life etc. I was more interested
In the technology of the camera itself, being I am a major tech-head, rather than the output of results.
Then soon thereafter my affair with the camera was ended.

Fast forward to Feb 2011. Tax return time comes, and you know it’s always fun to look in the papers to see
What toys to buy! Well for some reason, of all the electronics, it was a Sony DSLR that got my attention.
It sparked new interest in picture taking, I thought, I want to become a photographer. Out of nowhere.
Well I did research and decided upon a better camera, Canon 550D so I got that along with a 50mm prime lens in mid March 2011.

Well I figured I spent a fortune on it so I better use it! So I started off doing causal still life shooting again.
I read the manual, and tinkered with the camera settings after having it on full auto for the first 2 days.
I wanted to try shooting people now. Late March I did my first shoot. Then followed by a family shoot
In early April. I started getting a few requests as people liked my earlier work. I did it for free starting out.
But every shoot steadily became better. You can literally see the growth of my work, album to album.
I started charging a low rate once I was comfortable with the quality I output, as I wanted to make this a living. Since I have had much work, and great demand for my work as I have been hired for Quinceanera, Wedding Vow Renewal, Wedding Reception, Bridal Shower, Maternity, Family, Solo shoots.
People are real surprised to learn that I started shooting 3 months ago, but when you have passion for something, you will achieve your goal.

And that reminds me lol, almost forgot. My goal for registering to this site is to find Models to help me upgrade
my portfolio, as well as help them upgrade theirs. I believe this may be a great place to show off my work and create much more work. =]
