About Me

"I am inspired by every day life and the little things we encounter along the way." ~ Laura Boland, Hair Stylist. Artist. Vocalist.

HAIR PORTFOLIO: www.wix.com/lauraboland/portfolio

I am an artist that uses hair as my medium. I moved to New York City in August of 2010 to grow, learn and be challenged. I love to create and am always looking to collaborate.

I am currently seeking NYC Photographers, Models, Make-up Artists and Fashion Stylists to connect with and build upon my portfolio. I am passionate about cohesive themes and concepts with a cinematic quality and working with experimental artists. I love to mold hair into sculptures and create shapes that merge the past with the present into a futuristic-vintage design. I am very versatile and love everything from timeless and classic to avant garde. I have a background in art and photography and am able to naturally translate my visual eye into my daily work; giving it a unique and signature quality. My approach is sculptural; yet technically precise and I am meticulous and detail-oriented. I am very open to ideas and am doing TFP with the right artists also looking to experiment and expand their book. I would also love to design an updo for your Wedding Day! UPDATE: I am now a stylist at Parlor Hair Salon in the East Village. To make an appointment: www.parlorhairsalon.com

I look forward to seeing you!

My History:

After obtaining my cosmetology license at the Aveda Institue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialized in cutting and styling for seven years at Juut Salonspa in Edina, Minnesota. At Juut, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to design haircuts for their Seasonal Collections. I educated fellow stylists; both seasoned and new in hopes to inspire them to experiment and infuse creativity into their work. I was also a lead hair stylist for numerous fashion events and worked with several photographers in the Twin Cities. This experience and my passion for education helped diversify my skill. I now teach part time at the Aveda Institute and part time at Parlor in Manhattan!

Thanks, and hope to hear from you!
