About Me

My first job in photography was loading 220 film backs and sitting in the subject's chair with a light meter held up to my face for a long-standing New Orleans photographer. He taught me the basics and tolerated my many mistakes. In this setting I gained a deep appreciation for natural light and the wonderful things it can do in an image. I still enjoy using film but have embraced digital photography as well.

I mainly shot architecture and landscapes but have recently started photographing people. I gravitate to artistic nudes and figure studies and have also done some pin-up. The challenge of photography is so alluring I doubt there is a genre I would not enjoy. The reason I started taking pictures in the first place is that, even as a child, I was constantly composing pictures in my head out of ordinary situations. With much work I finally reached a point where I could begin getting those images captured and am quite excited to continue that journey.

My email is [email protected]

I am shooting large format now. I regularly do 4x5 and 5x7 in both regular film and x-ray film and am working on an 8x10 camera. I hope to get a wet plate rig that I am working on going soon too. I have been studying George Hurrell and want to try to get that look using similar equipment to what he used, 8x10 camera and big lights.
