About Me

Jesse James Wood was born on March 9th, 1987 in Boston, Massachusetts to Robert and Karen Wood. He spent his adolescence on a small horse farm in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Jesse found a love for stories and storytelling at a young age, and he discovered a talent for writing and acting during middle school. At the age of 16, he transferred from the public high school in Marshfield to Worcester Academy in order to pursue theater in an academic setting. His acting teacher, Mrs. Canterbury saw the raw talent in the young man, and encouraged him to pursue acting and directing in college. In 2005, Jesse enrolled at Skidmore College. Originally, he planned on being a psychology or English major with a theater minor, but he soon realized that his true passion was in the theater. During his sophomore year, he declared himself a theater major with focus in acting and directing. He went to Skidmore for four years acting in many shows and directing one as well. In the spring of 2010, he returned home. He pursued bartending for a time, working at the Boston Harbor Hotel and Drink. Though he was making a good living, Jesse longed to be involved in the theater, and in early December 2010, he contacted a good friend, Lester Lynch, who had said he needed a personal assistant to help with his ever growing career as an opera singer. Jesse now works as his personal assistant.
While in Saratoga Springs, Jesse appeared in the Channel Z production of Bug playing the role of Peter. His proudest performance was that of the Interesting Man and Lord of the Underworld in Eurydice by Sarah Rhule. Other credits include “Jesse” in 18-21, Peter in The Investigation of the Muurder in El Salvador, Mr. Dung beetle and Second Engineer Ant in Insect Play, Andrew in Beyond Therapy, and Johnny B and Balthazar in 17 Missing Years. Jesse also participated in several student films playing the part of Ed Keady in The Beer Pong Trilogy, Jeremy in One Minute to Midnight, and Logan Chapman in College is Hard.
In his final year at Skidmore, Jesse directed David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross. Also during this year, Jesse took two courses in playwriting with Stephanie Fleishmann, in which he completed half a dozen short plays and a 70 page one act. Jesse branched out into other artistic fields during his time at the university. He took several art and dance classes as well as a photography. Other skills include Martial arts (mixed, intermediate), horseback riding, firearms, rock climbing, stilts, juggling, photography, drawing/painting, skate boarding, cooking, surfing, guitar, carpentry, rollerblading, snowboarding, most sports (ask for more info), some acrobatics, beat boxing, and accents (Brooklyn, Boston, Irish, French, Russian).
