About Me

It's A Whole New World Out There.., And I helped create it.

In 1994, I was a young designer - who after living In Okinawa Japan for some years, and attending school in Ohio, started up a small graphic design business in Pasadena California. I had just recently returned to Chicago when I was hired by Alberto Culver as a freelance art director to head up the TCB Bone Straight Hair Awards at the Park West - and was pretty much responsible for everything from conception to completion. We pulled it off with flying colors! Not much later, I went on to become the creative director for SalonSENSE Magazine, where I helped to established the brand and created the standard for the first fourteen issues of the publication - and while that was a little while ago, not much has changed. I have done so much more in the health, hair & beauty industry since then.

I think that my greatest attributes have always been in my ability to accurately interpret what my clients need, and in being able to surround myself with talented, highly qualified people to help me provide it. So.., be it Graphic Designer, Creative Director, Photographer or Musician - at the end of the day, I am just an artist. I love what I do, and I Am Good At It.

Creating

The ability to communicate ideas effectively - Can be like, Magic! It's like telling a beautiful story with pictures, video or music - and getting people to actually "visualize" the story. Talking about getting people to see things from your perspective.., Wow! I think the most successful communication campaigns have always been those where the message was not only, informative and intelligent but engaging and entertaining and internalized by the recepient. The 2008 Presidential campaign was a perfect example of how a great communicator, with a dynamic message and the use of this new media was able to Engage the World.

The Linier, Fear-Based Existence

In more and more communities around the world, many of us live in a constant state of sub-conscious fear. We are afraid to meet our neighbors or even walk down our own streets. Many of us are also consumed by the fear of non-acceptance and failure, so much so that we are afraid to try anything new or different... Or create that thing that does not yet exist. And without that spirit, there can be no NEW - without an attempt, there can be no success. The true artist understands that failure is an integral part of the creative process. It is a reference point and a means to measure the prospect of a greater standard. The average person needs to feel a sense of control and is shaken when faced with the prospect of uncertainty. The artist on the other hand, thrives when faced with the "blank canvas." We have no idea what will become of it. It has no future or life until we give it one. And as we create this life, we are not preoccupied with its acceptance or validation - only with its creation. I would submit, that It has been non-linier thinking that has authored many of the world's greatest achievements.
