Attention talented wardrobe/clothing designers and stylist. I love to try and make my photography unique. Having unique wardrobe is certainly a benefit. If any designers and stylist would like to contribute to upcoming shoots in exchange for use of the final image(s) please feel free to contact me in regards to collaborating.
Paid work and TFP:
My primary focus is on paid work which will take priority over any type of TFP considerations. While this implies that I am open to TFP, I am very selective with whom I’ll work with in these regards. A model should be bringing something to the shoot that is of tangible value. If she has substantial publishing credits that usually helps. In some cases a model may have the right sort of look I want for a particular shoot. I have a huge archive of past shoots so a model definitely needs to bring something new to the table for TFP considerations.
Rates:
Rates are based on estimated time and complexity of the shoot. Time is calculated for both shooting and post work. Obviously the more complex the shoot the more time it will take to complete. Being descriptive regarding the look and type of shoot you would like will help me in regards to quoting an accurate price. If your idea will involve considerable time in Photoshop, set building, prop gathering and location scouting etc. extra charges will apply.
Booking:
To book a shoot and secure the date requires a non-refundable MIN $200 deposit. This will go toward your shoot cost. This fee generally ensures that the model shows up. You can reschedule your date up to the week prior to the initial date should something urgent come up. Those who do not give prompt notice or notice at all, potentially cost other paid bookings.
Travel:
I use considerable amounts of lighting, grip and studio gear for my shoots. This limits my ability to travel via plane for a shoot. If you want me to come to you to shoot then expenses regarding travel, lodging and equipment rental would be required. For shoots that are in driving distance then gas and lodging expenses are expected to be covered unless it is a short drive then just gas will be factored into the rate.
Retouching:
I do all the retouching of my own images. However I have been getting more and more messages asking if I offer retouch services on other peoples work. My average rate for retouch is $50 per hour. Models will need permission from the photographers. I would prefer the RAW file as opposed to a jpg. I do pre post work tweaks in Lightroom and RAW provides more latitude for color and exposure adjustments than a jpg file. Also the quality of the retouch is only as good as the quality of the image to start with.
Prompt Communication:
Initial communication to arrange a shoot by messaging is fine. After that though, I will exchange my number to discuss details. It’s faster, immediate and allows for more detailed feedback. The quality of the shoot depends on all parties being properly prepared. I stay busy and don’t always have available time to articulate detailed messages that take an hour to type when I could say it all and more in 10 minutes. It’s just more efficient. Also when models tend to fall off from being prompt about communication it raises a red flag and may give reasonable cause to cancel the shoot.

Turn around on images:
Typically you want the one best shot from any shoot for your portfolio. I will retouch the client’s choice of best shot as well as what I feel is the best shot. Average time between a photo shoot and delivery of images is approx. 4-8 weeks dependant on my workload. Who hasn’t heard of studios which offer glamour shots to women around Australia? These shopping centre chains that typically throw you in a feather boa put on the heaviest of make up and take pictures of you in front of a coloured back ground. Despite the cheesiness factor women loved it! It gave the everyday mum who only wore make up for special occasions and holidays an opportunity to feel beautiful special and sexy. Well, Icon Studios is not one these franchise studios, not even close. Photographer Peter Trainer has taken glamour photography to a whole new level. What he offers his clients is a modern, elegant, high-end experience which is non-judgmental and fun. As women get older and busier after children and marriage they sometimes lose those beautiful and special feelings. By giving women a chance to see themselves professionally processed Peter gives them a chance to embrace themselves in their own skin.

Peter Trainer is primarily known for his glamour work. His photographs have appeared in over 150 magazines, both nationally and internationally and works with his trusted and equally talented makeup artists and hair stylists, Elizabeth Kramar and Nancy McKenzie who are partners in the beautifully presented old glamour-inspired Icon Studios which regularly sees up to 50 clients per month, ranging from mothers needing that confidence boost to professional models for their portfolios and magazine work. Trained in the field of makeup artistry by Napoleon Perdis himself 15 years ago you can be guaranteed an amazing transformation which brings out the best of you. But boys, don’t feel left out! Icon Studios caters to both sexes as Peter’s talent lies in photographing the human form and bringing out its uniqueness and beauty. This can be seen at www.iconstudios.com.au.

When peter started photography 25 years ago he had a vision to transform an everyday person into an iconic image through the art of hand retouching in the old darkrooms. through to today with current technology and the digital era of retouching, where peter has excelled to the degree where he even offers other photographers one on one lessons in this art-form to produce images of the high calibre as seen in glossy magazines across our country. After settling in Noosa 10 years ago, he ran his own studio from his home with his work primarily being magazine and commercial photography.

However, after long lists of requests from people over the internet he decided it was time to open a commercial studio so this art-form could be offered to the public also. 10 years on, Peter is firmly established in Noosa with his one of a kind Icon Studios which also includes a fully equipped hair and makeup salon and web design department catering to clients on an individual basis, so gone are the pressure selling techniques (immediate sale as photos are destroyed by the end of the week) seen in most other “glamour makeover” studios. At icon studios the client pays for the expertise for the photographer and makeup artist rather than a sitting fee and then has a choice on which photographs they would like to purchase whether it be that same day or six months later.

“I’ve taught myself everything I can about photography, lighting, digital imaging, make up, styling, posing, posing direction and most importantly retouching images in Photoshop” reminisces Peter who was awarded Australian magazine photographer of the year. “The look of glamour just comes naturally to me in my work and is still a staple of my work today”.

It is particularly thrilling when you see a client looking at the “before” and then the “after” pictures as we relish the comments made and the long sighs as if what they see in their photographs is romantic. It is actually pretty amazing and icon studios are recognized as the artists they are. “I had my pictures done yesterday and I fell in love… with me!” says client Beverley. “I felt so beautiful when I left Icon. I felt special, something I haven’t felt in a long time. Icon studios made me feel this way. I have never felt so beautiful special safe and included before. The team at icon felt like old friends to me”

Icon Studios clients are encouraged to show up alone no partners or friends as this is a special time for the client. It is an all-inclusive session. The client should expect to be enveloped in warmth from the moment they arrive to the moment they depart. They will leave renewed with an overwhelming sense of appreciation and being sexy and glamorous just for being themselves. They will love themselves just for being who they are and they will love icon for helping to show them how truly beautiful they really are. “Images are an incredibly powerful thing. I have met people who have never felt sexy, never felt glamorous, never felt special and I have changed that for them.” Peter says “I’m overwhelmed with the emotion that these people experience, tears of disbelief and joy. They laugh, they can’t breathe. It is such a gift that we can help them see themselves in this light. We treasure it”.

People contact Icon Studios every day to book sessions and Icon handles this privilege with honesty and respect. Remember, Icon Studios don’t just offer a photographic makeover, they change lives and they want to change the glamour industry from the cheesy reputation it has held for so long to the self-empowering experience it should be. The glamorous Icon Studios is the only one of its kind in Australia. Let us help you unleash your inner goddess.

“A man who works with his hands is a labourer, a man who works with his brain is a craftsman, a man who works with his hands, brain and heart is an artist….”
