Hello, My name is Jason. I'm a photographer based in Sacramento, CA.

I'm sure many of you are wondering why I may have chosen an anonymous quote, in particular this quote, as the lead in to my profile. The answer is very simple. I feel this quote elegantly states a philosophy that I not only hold, but try to incorporate into my work.

This work, as you can see from the samples here, & on my website, focuses on nudity. From art nudes, to pinups, to erotic, I do a little of it all.

I do not do this, as some might suppose, out of a perverted need to see my models naked. Nor is it a get rich quick scheme; a way to drive folks to my site then charge them for the pleasure of viewing my images. Rather I do this out of a desire to create beauty.

The human body is one of the most beautiful subjects in creation. Sadly, however, we are taught that it is something to be ashamed of. Something we need to hide away &/or degrade by calling it indecent. This can not be further from the truth. We should celebrate & be proud of our bodies. We are "Gloriously & wonderfully made"!

I discovered my love for photography quite by accident. I'd always been interested in all the Arts growing up. When I was in college I decided to take a Photography class. It was something I'd always wanted to do & would help supplement my other art skills/interested.

What I didn't count on was falling in love. After that one class I was hooked. I went on to take as many photo classes as I could. From B&W, to colour, to digital, to experimental/traditional techniques, to lighting... Basically if it had something to do with Photography I was there. I still am. I'm always interested in learning & trying new techniques. Not to mention developing some of my own. I'm fond of saying "I learned the rules, so I would know how to break them".

One of my other great loves was for pinup artwork & photography. I enjoyed how these images teased the imagination. How they could be erotic without being explicit. Some of my favorite artists include Earl Moran, Zoe Mozart, Gil Elvgren, Alberto Vargas, & (in modern times) Olivia De Berardinis. My all time favorite model would have to be the late & great Bettie Page.

It was only natural that I eventually combine these two interests together. Thus the creation of my own company: DarkMoon Studios. I endeavor to run it along the lines of the pinup masters who so inspired me. Knowing that what is not seen, or barely seen, can often be much more exciting that what is. That it's possible to be erotic without having to be explicit.

In addition to following these philosophies I also try & involve the models I work with in the creation & creative processes rather than simply saying show up at this time & this location wearing this kind of outfit. This is because I feel that when a model helps out with the creative side of the shoot they are more likely to enjoy themselves. This in turn leads to better photos (IMHO). Ones that both myself & the model are proud to have as part of our portfolios.

Guess that brings me to what I'm looking for. My company & site is still relatively new, so at present am looking for models willing to work with me & help expand both or portfolios. I know they say to be specific on what you are looking for, but truthfully don't have a set "type". I strongly believe that beauty knows no race, religion, hair colour, body type, gender etc. It's a person's personality that makes them beautiful or not.

While I have said I do nude photography I am actually shoot all kinds of photography that involves people. This is because I feel they make the best, & most interesting subjects.

Let me stress that pinup work &/or nudity is NOT a requirement with working with me, so please don't let that keep you from replying if your interest is peaked. As stated before I will work with you to create images that you are comfortable with & proud to have as part of your portfolio.
