About Me

Hello Folks,

Welcome to my page. I hope you find it both informative and enjoyable.
***************************************************************
What am I'm Here for:
To collaborate and network with like-minded people to create compelling, original and provocative images.
If you just want pretty pictures, you don't need me. A landscape is a pretty picture.
***************************************************************
What I'm Not Here for:
I'm not looking to date you. I'm here to work. I'm not here to flatter anyone's vanity with outlandish or lavish shoots. They will be stylish, and as fun as you want them to be
***************************************************************
I am very passionate and serious about my photography in what ever form. But when working with models, the shoots are always a fun experience. I am happiest when a model leaves the set, I know she wouldn't need to think twice about a return engagement.
***************************************************************
I sold a studio in New Zealand in 1989, to relocate to Australia. I had been specialising in newsprint and magazine advertising but I also did portfolios for agencies in Dunedin and Christchurch.
After 20years of working for a boss, my freedom and need to express and project myself became paramount. Over those years, I had kept my self up to date with photography, even forsaking roll-film for the much more fashionable digital style.
***************************************************************
I am happy to shoot with new or experienced models. When working with someone new to the industry, I am happy to give direction, ideas and advice when requested. Experienced models know that when a pose feels good, it will look good and so the image will be, so I seldom interfere. I seldom work with assistants, except for when a make-up artist/hair stylist is required.
Whether I'm creating a new port or re-vamping an established one there are only two things I take into consideration, that's if its studio style or on location. The only time I ask for a Life Insurance Policy is when I'm shooting extreme sports close-up:)
***************************************************************
No Diva's allowed, period. If you have an egoistic attitude, leave it at home. I take an extreme dislike to models who read my request to work with me and then completely ignore the pm. When these children grow up, they might learn a little bit about courtesy. It's just like saying Hello, it doesn't cost an arm or a leg to be polite.
Remember EGO is only EGG spelled incorrectly.
***************************************************************
Some thoughts:
I'm a photographer, not a cash-cow.

MM culture doesn't equate to anything like real world business practices. You don't own the copyright of an image just because you're it, and stepping in front of a camera isn't worth hundreds of dollars just because you think you're worth it. If you were that good, you'd have an agent and wouldn't be wasting your time trying to squeeze money out of some GWC

I prefer the enthusiasm of a Newbie over the elusiveness of a "famous" model playing hard to book. (See Diva's above). We get more shooting done with none of the hassles.

18+ shots scare "peeps" away from making comments, but "Views" don't lie.

I thought the male ego was an ugly thing, until I encountered female vanity. But that's probably just fear of the "expiration date."

Prudes vs Naked Peeps. Even prudes get naked every day, but peeps never get prudish.

Overblown egos are like Galaxies, in the middle, you'll find a black hole.

While you're here, take a look at my lists. I'm not a good copyist so the re-creations will never be precise, but you'll get the general idea of what I'm looking for in my shoots.
***************************************************************
I will only photo shop images by request for enlarged images or when required for your port. I offer 10x A4 enlargements, proof sheetsof all images plus a CD.
********* "Sometimes I do get to places, just when God is ready to have
someone click the shutter." Ansel Adams.
********* "My job as a portrait photographer is to seduce, amuse
and entertain". Helmut Newton

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to meeting (perhaps working with) you in that big world out there.

I would like to thank the following wonderful MM models, who have shared, some more than once, their personalities and understated beauty with me in my quest to produce a port that has some relevance. To you all, thank you for your assistance. You are all a credit to this site.
