Inspired by a friend who was unable to find a well fitted suit because of his small size, Yasmine took up that most difficult and elite of all fashion pursuits, bespoke suit-making. Her desire was to create the perfectly fitting suit. After outfitting her friend (and several others), she studied suit tailoring at New York's FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), To perfect her suit tailoring skills, she worked with several highly respected designers (e.g. Rubin Chapelle, Zazoo) and some of the best bespoke Tailors in New York City.

Her mother, an accomplished tailor herself, took Yasmine under her wing and taught her the fundamentals and intricacies of the sewing and tailoring process. Yasmine's talent and diligence were soon rewarded with a sought-after apprenticeship at Betty Barclay, where she mastered the tailoring of women's wear, especially blazers. Later, as a student at Berlin's esteemed Fashion Design School, FHTW (Fachhochschule fuer Technik und Wirtschaft), Yasmine became interested in menswear and began to specialize in men's suits. She became a master student finishing with the highest degree, but was still unsatisfied; her search for inspiration and possibilities to perfect her craft brought her to New York City.

Unstoppable in her quest for the perfect suit design, Yasmine Özelli decided to dedicate herself to this goal, and started her own bespoke company in 2007.
