Bjoern Thomas is a contemporary art photographer and real globetrotter. BJOERN THOMAS has been discovered by a secret and exclusive art project of APPLE, they motivated and supported him on his journey as concept and art photographer. In the last two years he gained a significant number of followers with more than 700.000 clicks on his webpage and iTunes channel. Bjoern Thomas successfully presented his work already at SCOPE MIAMI 2013, SCOPE BASEL 2014 or SHANGHAI Art Fair 2013. Several galleries show interest to present his work. His BLOODY SUPPER picture for instance is currently shown at the SAATCHI MUSEUM in London on a screen or has been sold e.g. to one of the biggest collectors in the world, like the famous Pritzker family in USA. He has no fear to realize art projects, which are impossible in the eyes of others. Bjoern creates stimulating environments of people from all walks of life, presenting situations both real and fantastical in order to explore the complexities of human experience through an artistic and honest lens. Bjoern Thomas stylizes people in staged environments in order to theatrically combine fact with fiction, real people within symbolic and illuminated environments. Through his combination of reality with imagination, his subjects ranging from distant cultures in faraway lands to incarcerated gangsters and crime families become more than documentations of people in unfamiliar lived environments but become cinematic, adding a theoretical layer to his aesthetic portraits that triggers investigations into the alluded symbolic imagery. Bjoern Thomas uses photography to discover foreign elements prevalent in our society, exploring uncanny sub-cultures one does not personally understand. The photographer unearths the differences between individuals, the alien aspects one may never have personally encountered, seen most notably in his powerful “Gangster” or “Sumo” series. The artist Bjoern Thomas is creating art through many mediums, taking advantage of his long experience as photographer, as engineer, product designer or creative director.
