My name is Maria O’Donoghue and I’m a student/photographer based in Dun Laoghaire Dublin. I am currently in my third year of the BA (hons) Degree in Photography at IADT Dun Laoghaire. The course covers all areas of photography but portraiture has emerged as my true passion.

The sheer excitement I feel when I capture the ‘perfect’ portrait is how I know that this is what I want to do with my life. To me, the perfect portrait cannot be found in a generic studio shoot with forced smiles and white T-shirts. I love to photograph people in their own everyday setting, exactly as they are. The genuine connections between people fascinate me. My aim is to capture, in my own unique style, the love between families, the banter between friends, the essence of an important occasion, the excitement of a new baby and the chaos when you throw some pets into the mix!
