About Me

I took a hiatus from photography after experiencing burnout a while back. I started a company teaching photography while living in Mexico for half a decade.
I’ve been in exhibitions and galleries around the world for my travel and street photography.
Nowadays I’m looking for that inspiration and concept that will bring the spark of excitement back.

I get inspired by collaboration and the challenge of building a concept and making it into reality. I tend to like to create larger than life projects. Some come to fruition, some were a bit too large.

My ideal models are ones that love to collaborate and create something new, that come with ideas but also can take direction.

Every model must sign a release before shooting. This protects the model and myself.

Please feel free to contact the previous models And photographer I have worked with for character references.

------------------------------------------

My favorite places to shoot are in dreamy locations near water, among trees, or near cliffs with filtered sunlight. Ancient ruins and old buildings are also a plus. If you know of any and want to shoot there let me know! My work tends to convey some story, emotion, or fantasy aspect that really draws the viewer in.

Artists on MM that I have worked with and recommend:

Photographers:

#7866 Kelly E. - Attended a 1on1 workshop with her where we photographed a Ford Model as well as a mom/daughter senior portrait session. She's creative, energetic, and hugely personable. She was really fun to shoot with and the models had a great time too. I learned a lot from her.

Models:
#1851677 - Tina Tiainen - She was one of my dream models to work with as her creativity is bursting from the themes. She always brings something (she brought a scythe) interesting and new to shoots. You won't regret collaborating with her. She's a natural.

#1607475 - Maya - Maya was fun to work with, we did some serious and funny shots. She brought her own style to the shoot which I really enjoyed.

#1570201 - Shawndrea Ray - Shawndrea was a natural at posing. She could follow instructions and also input her own ideas during the shoot.

MUA/Stylist:

#1851677 - Tina Tiainen - Tina did all of her own makeup for the shoot (two different looks) and the results were great.

#1570201 - Shawndrea Ray - Shawndrea did a wonderful job on her own makeup, giving her a very nice complexion.

Designers

#1851677 - Tina Tiainen - Tina tends to create all of her own outfits and props for a shoot. Once she has an idea she goes with it and the magic starts to happen. It's one of the reasons I wanted to work with her while I was in Iowa. She created her own head piece for our 'dark' shoot and has multitudes of props seemingly popping out of thin air at a snap of her fingers.

Non MM reference:
“Josh is a superbly talented photographer with unmatched creativity, insight, and interpersonal skills. His vibrant personality quickly befriends even the most inexperienced model; his keen eye for aesthetics helps put together a beautiful background using the most quotidian objects.”
