Toney has been a prodigy since childhood. At the age of 5, his grandmother had him sing in the church choir and after a few years his family knew that he would one day want to become a gospel singer. However, Toney had another passion and vision; ACTING.
Toney first recognized his desire to act from observing his mom watch the afternoon soaps. The drama from these shows caught Toney’s attention, that he too started watching the afternoon soaps with her. It wasn’t until Toney started watching “The Cosby Show”, that he realized that being an actor was what he wanted to pursue. There, he noticed black actors reigning successfully on a television series. That was the motivation for him to pursue his dream in acting, but the dream was delayed due to lack of knowledge at the time.
In October of 1995, Toney moved to Atlanta, GA. By this time, he was graduating from high school and knew that once he graduated, he needed to focus his aspirations on acting again. In college, Toney started meeting other students in the acting and modeling field who gave him leads to local auditions. Toney was able to book his first job in John Stanek’s music video “Candle.”
Over the years, Toney has appeared in a few more music videos such as “Big Mama” by Black Dave and “Step & Roll” by A-Hustla. Toney also had a voice over segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show a year before Oprah announced her final season. Toney was an extra for the TV series, “The Game” season 5 and has worked as a stand in for Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” season 6. Toney just finished a stage play entitled, “The Bachelor’s Christmas” where he was featured as the main character “Robert Kelley.” Toney is always looking for that next major project so he can continue soaring his vision to televisions across the U.S.
