My name is Kevin Clapp and I am an artist from Lexington, KY. My work is very rooted in the realms of surreal/pop/dada and usually stems in the form of weird cartoonish creations. I have exhibited my work through college and graduate school, and finally came to the conclusion that the narratives within my work demanded a new format, so now I'm working on books.

For the past several years, I have been working on writing and eventually drawing my own series of graphic novels-- a project I have entitled Abstract Reality. The writing process has taken several pitfalls and reboots over the course of this time, but I've nearly finished scripting all 4 books. Once my scripts undergo some editing, I will finally find myself ready for Phase-2, which means shooting photos of stand-ins for my characters, all roughly in costume with props, on location in Lexington for the most part.

Think of it as a film shot in still-frames-- I am the writer, director, one of the lead actors, and special effects guy all wrapped into one. Many of the aforementioned stand-in roles will be friends, but some roles will require reaching out to a more diverse community of models and actors in order to correctly cast the role.

Once the scripts are finished, I plan to go about Phase-2 photography in a similar fashion to how the Lord of the Rings trilogy was shot. I'm a stickler for continuity, and would rather have all my photos gathered for the four books, than have one of my model-actors move away or drastically change their appearance when they will still be needed in their present form for future installments.

There will be a Kickstarter in place to fund the project and bring it to life, at the time I am ready to start shoots. Any interested parties, feel free to contact me in the interim, and I will reach out to models actively once photography is about to commence.
