Ava Vanderstarren has been a model since 2009. She has been in over 100 runway shows and countless commercial, editorial and catalogue photoshoots. A few highlights include: Arc`teryx, Eco Fashion Week, Coast Hotels, Vancouver Fashion Week, Jason Matlo, VALT, and Power of My People. She has appeared in FreshlyWORN Magazine, One1One Magazine, Tri-cities Wedding Magazine and Impress Magazine.

Ava has worked with students in the photo programs at Vanarts and Langara College for over 6 years doing studio and location shoots for fashion, bridal and lifestyle. Ava models for charity and some of her work includes Brilliant, The Ice Ball and SAF Global Wonders. She produced her own charity fashion show for Cops for Cancer during her year as Miss British Columbia.

Ava Vanderstarren started acting at a young age in theatre productions in her school and community. In 2011, she attended Vancouver Film School's "Acting for Film and TV Program" and has since been working in the film industry.

She has appeared in an episode of Supernatural, multiple TV commercials, and won the Best Actress award at the POV Film Festival for her work in A Day with Sofia. She is scheduled to appear in the upcoming films: Doctrinate, Heart of Dance and The Scale.

On July 1st, 2013, Ava Vanderstarren was crowned with the title of "Miss British Columbia" in Langley, B.C.

The Miss BC Pageant includes 3 days of workshops on self-esteem and public speaking and is based on personality and charity work. Ava's platform during the pageant was Women's Rights and Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers. During her year as Miss BC, she volunteered for many events and festivals around the Lower Mainland, for Battered Women's Support Services and created her own non-profit foundation for child soldiers. Innocence Lost Foundation started in August 2013, and currently Ava and her partner, Fazineh, are working on creating a rehabilitation centre project for former child soldiers in Sierra Leone.

In March 2014, Ava participated in the Miss Canada Pageant in Montreal and was a Finalist.
