About Me

I'm tall, slim and fit. I'm an adventurer and love life. I respond extremely well to positive people and I've been told many times that I'm easy to work with. To work with me you may need a little patience because I don't give up until I get exactly the photo I want. I'm creative and always able to think outside the square. I like to try and achieve the impossible with a photo. This means I often produce photos that have never been seen before, photos with the 'wow factor'. I love it when people look at a new photo and immediately ask me "how on earth did you do that?"

Here is some stuff about me.......
Recognized as one of New Zealand’s leading professional photographers Andy Belcher has gained an international reputation for his innovative techniques used to capture underwater, extreme sports, adventure and tourism images. He runs his own successful business from his home in Maketu in the Bay of Plenty.

Andy has won more than 80 international photographic awards including: Australasian Underwater Photographer of the Year (twice), first overall in France’s Okeanos and Antibes Festivals, first place the British Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition and third overall in the Nikon Photo Contest International which received 34,000 entries.

The Sigma Corporation of Japan have three times engaged Andy to shoot promotional images using Sigma lenses for use in their world wide magazine marketing campaigns. This is further testimony to Andy’s high skill level in photography.

Some of Andy’s more challenging photo assignments have come from International sources; photographing nomadic tribes in the remote regions of Sarawak for a New York travel magazine, sailing the Pacific with a television crew documenting the series “Deep Blue”, capturing images of Queensland, Australia for the AA Spiral Guide and exploring and photographing Fiji for the Berlitz Pocket-Guide. Sometimes Andy doesn’t need to look for the action because it comes to him, as in his too-close-for-comfort experience with the tsunami in Samoa.

Andy was a complete professional right from the word
“go”. He was super organized and diligent in his performance - from the planning and fine details, to the finished product. He was also a true gentleman, with beautiful manners, altruistic in every way and respectful for the whole duration of the shoot.
He was brilliant with time management, conveying what he wanted to achieve and giving perfect prompting when needed.
His confidence, enthusiasm and wicked sense of humor along with his spectacular masterpieces makes him a huge success. There is absolutely nothing he is not capable of doing. Every model will be lining up to work with him in the near future, no doubt in my mind.
Andy, you are a true magician... Cant wait to work with you again!!!!! ;-)
