john a. sexton's photography encompasses the creative. from fine arts to fitness, to underground subcultures, his work is a bold depiction of the edgier side of life not often seen. he reveals the subtle beauty that arises from the shocking or unexpected, and pulls out the inner strength of his subjects in an insightful but intimate way. originally a landscape and event photographer, sexton's photography has evolved into studio and on-location lighting techniques using a more guerrilla strobist approach to create a raw, natural but idealized image. his sense of color is extra vivid and the hues seem to pop from the screen.

Very professional, organized and on time when working. Laid back, flexible, open minded and creative. Love all ethnicities being Asian-American myself, I can appreciate beauty in all of its forms. Favorite looks are very natural beauties, and those with more creative edgier looks.

Have shot many art shows, fashion shows, yoga festivals, private portrait work in fitness with mostly yoga instructors and dancers. I am new to Model Mayhem but not to photography. Currently trying to build my portfolio towards more art, beauty, glamor, fashion, and fitness but with my extensive background in many different arts (music, art, theater, dance etc...) this has been a natural progression. Willing to work with more and less experienced models that fit the look and concept of my given project at the time. Favorite photographers are Emily Soto & Howard Schatz.

Pragmatic concerns, I am engaged so my interest in you is strictly as a model, nothing more. I will likely have a hair, makeup, lighting assistant or art director with me so the potential for any uncomfortable isolation is unlikely. I will provide very clear terms on usage in our up front agreements so there are no miscommunications. If your portfolio is weak, and you're willing to do TFCD, I have a photography studio in my home, and have portable lighting I can take on location in the field for strobist effects anywhere, and always produce solid usable shots for your port. My process is highly organized. Locations will be scouted in advance, you will be informed what the concept is, what you need to bring or not bring, do or not do. I sometimes provide my own hair and makeup person, but sometimes need model to provide or do themselves. Currently do not have contacts for wardrobe, so in most cases model will need to provide that, and I will provide specific artistic props for the given shoot.

Other than modeling contacts, another thing I am wanting to get out of MM is to network with professional retouchers. What you see in my portfolio was done entirely in camera, and with lighting. If you're a retoucher, please friend me, or message me so I can see your work, and likely I will begin sending you work soon after liking what you do.
