My work is predominantly dress making, combining couture sewing techniques & contemporary corsetry in order to produce a garment that not only fits the wearer perfectly, it also hugs just the right areas to flatter. I often incorporate CAD in my work, either to cut detailed edgings by laser or to design a fabric's surface pattern to create a truly unique piece. I make my own felt from natural materials to ensure the correct tones for each piece and then work in wire, embroidery and beads to bring depth and surface texture to my work, harmonizing the natural materials with organic designs to give visual impact to a piece. Embroidery both hand and machine also form intricate detailing into my work as does the flash of leather, whether it be an embellishment or stand alone piece.
Inspired by renaissance clothing, i have produced a range of leather & organza collarsa and necklaces. The laser cutting often leaves a burnt, organic edge to the item & religeous icons may be nestled amongst the lace.
