People make the best subjects of art, without exception. Beginning with the first daguerreotypes in 1839, photography quickly emerged as a powerful new medium on which we capture the human form. A truly perfect portrait has the capacity to convey a person's entire personality in a single image. Take a moment now to reflect on the sheer magnitude of that fantastic power caged behind the lens. Conceptualize what it means for a single shutter-snap to replace volumes of printed word. When a portrait is truly perfect, it becomes possible for the viewer to know everything about the model staring back at them from the other side.
