About Me

Hello everyone my name is Cherie Dempster. I have had experience in acting and modeling in my native state of Connecticut as well as New York including print, commercial, theatrical and film extra work. My career began at the age of 13 after attending modeling as well as theater training over the summer. Experiences I have enjoyed include promoting Riverside Amusement Parks, JC Penny, Barbizon School of Modeling headsheets, Teen Magazine, extra work in Mystic Pizza, Weston Woods Productions industrial educational films, as well as pageant and theatrical opportunities.
After enjoying participation in entertainment and promotions my career in this area was put on hold to pursue a medical degree of Occupational Therapy. Throughout college, however, I still could not resist the promotional spotlight as a volunteer spokesperson for all charity events put on by Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed fraternity based on community service development. This included announcing at events, photo-ops with local politicians, as well as local radio and TV spots. Charity and community service has and always will be such a huge part of my life and I would love to pursue it hand and hand with a modeling/promotional career.
After being offered a job opportunity my family and I relocated to a suburb of Orlando Florida and completely fell in love with this community. I have enjoyed coaching youth cheerleading as well as promotional support for our local girl scout troop. I am also a make-up consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics. With all of this, however, I still had the feeling some part of my life had been missing. I had pursued a steady medical career and was able to support my family, however, still something was missing.
My friend who runs a cosmetic business sponsored me to participate in the Mrs Florida America pageant to promote her products "just for fun." I successfully obtained the title of Mrs Orlando one I am very proud of. I developed a platform to support with my daughters in mind called TOGETHERTHERE.org affiliated with the Girl Scouts of America. It has three areas: supporting girls in the educational development of STEM cell careers (i.e. math, science, engineering), counseling on how to handle all types of bullying as well as healthy images of women in the media. I look forward to continuing my support of this cause up to and beyond the Mrs Florida Pageant in March 2013.
Participation in this also made me realize how much I have missed modeling and promotional work so I was motivated to get my feet wet again. I am attending C.A.S.T. (commercial actors success training) with Shauna Bartel as well as planning on upcoming printwork training with Lisa Maille school. I am a very studious model and always have been looking for the any books and resources I can find to discover the most optimum poses and spokesperson techniques. My husband, who has been very supportive of my aspirations says I am somewhat "like a sponge" trying to soak up every bit of learning and experience I can. In this case, I believe he is right! Thank you all so much for any opportunity you have to offer.
