At Shoot The Living, we begin each job with an open mind, because we know never to try and predict what images the assigment will produce until we get there. We trust our observational skills and professional experience, and apply them to whatever we see and study on each job. As soon as we arrive at the venue for a shoot, the first thing we do is observe the light, and begin noting potential backgrounds for our images. The quality and direction of the light is crucial when producing a fine editorial portrait. We are big fans of both natural light and flash at Shoot The Living, and always exploit our resources to their highest potential. Our photographers take the time to assess the brief, and make conversation with the sitter so that we can accurately and creatively illustrate the story. We treat composition with equal importance to content, always carefully selecting our background, and find a placement for our sitter that is interesting to the eye and content-appropriate to the story. At Shoot The Living, we are not about cheesy, tight and bright pictures. You will not find an endless array of pointlessly-smiling faces here. We do not mind happiness, indeed we are fans of it, but we strive to make our pictures look natural and well-thought-out.
