Rachel Riot has had a passion for Metal and Fashion ever since she can remember. She feels that sewing is a dying art and that musical genres like Death and Thrash Metal are misunderstood. As a designer she has taken it upon herself to show the public how beautiful Heavy Metal really is by interpreting the complexity of the compositions into intricate garment details, as well as revive classic clothing styles from vintage eras.
While growing up, Ms.Riot enjoyed watching older films with her mom and sister and soon developed a love for vintage styles from the 40′s through the 60′s. She decided the next step in her future career was to bring those timeless styles back. Later in life she started listening to Death Metal and realized that not only is metal a misunderstood genre in general society, but it’s also lost in an abundance of punk and goth inspired clothing lines in the fashion world.
With Audrey Hepburn as her muse, and her inspiration fueled by the strength of Heavy Metal Music, she set off on her dream to make Manic Designs a reality and enrolled at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, CA. She Graduated in 2009 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Fashion Design and is ready to revive vintage fashion with a brutal twist of Heavy Metal
