Ever since I can remember I have been intrigued with all things beauty; makeup, hair, fashion. I was the girl who loved makeup but wasn’t able to wear it myself. I remember my mom telling me I couldn’t wear makeup until I was in high school. My way around my mom’s rule was to do it in my room at home, or on my friends to “play”. I used to sneak into my mom’s bathroom and use whatever I could find; I wanted to figure out what looked good on me. I was going into Jr. High school and all my friends were wearing makeup so I knew I had to find a way to wear it too.
I would leave for the bus maybe like 10 minutes earlier so I could go outside, use the side mirror on my dad’s truck and apply my liner and mascara. When school was out I would wipe as much off of my face as possible so I wouldn’t get caught. I did this for most of my 8th grade year. Then going into high school, even though I could now wear makeup without having to wear it, I hardly wore it. Every day I had my usual winged eye liner and mascara for my long lashes, but I loved “playing makeup” with my little sister, friends and even sometimes on myself after school.
After high school I got very much into hair and wanting to go to cosmetology school and learning how to cut, style, color hair, although I never actually went. About a year later, maybe even two, I got very much into makeup again. I was on YouTube all day watching the gurus on there and observing the many different techniques they all had, and with just a few videos I was completely fascinated! I began doing my makeup differently everyday and venturing out into color and different looks besides my all too well known liner and mascara. I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life for the simple reason being I always enjoyed doing it. I have always been the one my friends come to for help, or to make them feel better in times of need. Doing makeup gave me that same amazing feeling of making someone feel beautiful and happy.
I have always said and believed that all women are beautiful, and they all should feel that way, no matter what the tabloids are telling them. I want every person that sits in front of me from this day forward to have, even that moment of looking themselves in the mirror and, not thinking but knowing they are beautiful just as they are.
