About Me

I'm an Australian Documentary Photographer and Lecturer.

The key themes that revolve around my personal work centre on the postindustrial landscape, with consumerism and environmental sustainability playing key roles. Essentially I'm interested in how these factors influence the world at large.

My photography practice has also allowed me to travel widely to far flung reaches of the world including Saharan Africa, Madagascar, Mongolia, Russia, India and South East Asia, chiefly with a view to document social changes brought about by communication technologies in societies at various stages of social and economic development.

I've undertaken several international documentary projects, each focussing on interactions between culture and the environment. In 2012 and 2013 I visited the Northwest of Western Australia, documenting human impact on the Cape Range bioregion, which includes the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ningaloo Reef Marine Park and the Cape Range National Park.

Between 2011 and 2015 I repeatedly travelled to China, documenting the impact of a rapidly transitioning country on both its landscape and its people.

In recognition of my contribution to investigating human relationships with landscapeI, in 2014 I was awarded an Australian Post Graduate Award and an ECU Research Excellence Award. Both of these awards have allowed me to continue my PhD research into northwest Australian and Chinese culture and landscape.

I've lectured in Photomedia at Edith Cowan and Curtin Universities, and sat as Board Member (Creative) with the Perth Centre for Photography. My work has been exhibited in numerous shows both in Australia and overseas.

I currently live and work in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
