What’s in a name? That which we call Cacao…

Named Theobroma, meaning “Food of the Gods,” the seeds of the Theobroma Cacao tree produce the rich, smooth, and decadent delicacy of chocolate. The history of chocolate dates back to its origins in Mesoamerica; where it played a significant role in both Mayan and Aztec royal and religious events. In Mexico, during the reign of the Aztec kings, conquered regions were ordered to offer cacao beans as currency to pay them as a tax, or as the Aztecs called, a “tribute.” Cacao is legacy that epitomizes the true essence of quality; a legacy that can never be duplicated; a legacy that stands on its own and remains true to its origins.

At first glance, thoughts of the succulent and delectable rich chocolate- Cacao (Cuh-Cah-Oh) came to mind when a female admirer laid eyes on Jamar. The name was fitting and memorable; without effort “Cacao” stuck from that point on. With a passion of helping others, Jamar puts his educational background and skill set to work by providing therapeutic treatment to teenage males at a residential facility in Baltimore, Maryland.

Undoubtedly all work and no play can certainly make chocolate melt away. So when he’s not working, the 6'3" looker can be found relaxing by checking out episodes of some of his favorite TV shows; to include the Chappelle’s Show, Prison Break and the Wire. Movies and television however, are not the only interests for Jamar. You see, he believes that life is about growth and expanding one’s horizon’s so he also finds time to read character-building books like "He-motions" by T.D. Jakes, or the "48 laws of power" by Robert Greene.

One thing that is a must, is putting in work at the gym. This is a necessity not only to maintain the “Cacao” physique but also to burn off calories from his favorite Italian foods.

Having benefited from someone motivating him and having a vested interest in molding him, Jamar returns the favor to others by serving as a mentor and role model. He is able to utilize his Master's Degree in Social Administration to offer professional and caring assistance to young people. His natural leadership skills honed on the basketball court during his time at Slippery Rock University; as well as leadership roles within his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., allows him to identify unique and effective ways to motivate young people to use higher education as a tool to propel their lives. Additionally, he instills the importance of having a goal oriented mindset, which can be used as a ladder to a brighter future.

From his beginnings in Pittsburgh, to his time spent in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and now the continuation of his journey in Baltimore, Maryland; Jamar has revealed his innate potential. He possesses a stellar work ethic and remains humble as the evolution of Cacao continues.
