I have been retouching as a learning tool for about six years now. It started as a way to help further my understanding of the human form and colour management for both the story boarding and colour grading of my short films and ended up become something else entirely. So I was actually more of a filmmaker than I was a retoucher, it just turned out that I found the whole process addictive as hell!
I still love turning my retouched work on and off in photoshop, and still constantly surprises me as to how satisfying I find this type of work. From the initial FS stage through to luminosity mask management, I find each photograph holds its own unique challenges that I find infectiously liberating.
Over the years I have stayed a silent member of Model Mayhem, using it as a tool to find more raw images shot from studios that will help progress my work. Lately I have been focusing extensively on colour management and have begun learning hair modifying techniques, something I am still struggling with but will hopefully conquer.
I now want to have a more active role in the Model Mayhem community, both in forums and outside of the site with photographers that I meet from within it. I see a lot of other peoples images throughout the forums while hunting down photos and I believe I would enjoy the opportunity to help them progress their retouching skills if at all possible.
