About Me

I translate the world around me on paper and create it with fabric. Music is my muse, Art is my inspiration, History is my husband, Cultures are my lovers, and the Body is my canvas. This is the world of Rebel. I do what I want!

My fashion is ME!

We are Deviant ReBeL Clothing; a group of business minded females working to make our mark in the fashion industry. Roberta Elizabeth Baker-Lundy is the owner and designer of Deviant ReBeLf Clothing, which was established in 2000. Her initials are where the name ReB-L came from and that is the name that she is best known as. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, ReBeL has always had an eye for fashion even at a young age. She started out making clothes for her Barbie and Cabbage Patch dolls. ReBeL started designing clothes when she was in middle school, reconstructing clothes that she had purchased and creating new pieces. She then began hand sewing and upon her first year in college in 2000 she was acquainted with the sewing machine and absolutely fell in love because she then knew that she could create masterpieces from scratch. In 2001 she started learning new techniques and broadening her skills; prom dresses for her family and friends who were graduating became a new accomplishment. More recently she created four new lines, a more sophisticated design named “Roberta Elizabeth” and a men’s line called “Renegade by ReBeL” a line of Baby onsies and shoes call "ReBeL Baby, and a children's line title "Rebellious Kids".

ReBeL graduated from The New England Institute of Art with a Bachelor’s of Science in Fashion Retail Management and with her business slowly growing, she took on her sister Rocket as a style designer and Shatara as her public relations executive. Rocket has a unique sense of style, she is great at combining and accessorizing our pieces to create a final look that viewers love. Shatara loves to network and socialize and works hard to get Deviant ReBeL Clothing noticed by the public eye. ReBeL’s mother (Miss Baker) is one of her biggest supporters, she has been there for her through everything; picking her up from shows, dropping her off, getting her to and from fabric stores and supporting her overall love for designing.

As a team, we have accomplished some great successes, like being featured in a few local fashion magazines, we graced the runway during New York Fashion Week, we have many viewers via our social networking sites and our fast growing online website. Rocket is well known for her creative fashion sense and has built relationships with local jewelry designers like Lola’s Urban Vintage in Allston, MA and Buffalo Exchange in Allston, MA. They allowed us to use clothing and accessories for past shows we were featured in and we have in return we have passed out their business cards, brochures and/or coupons to represent their establishments for potential customers.

ReBeL’s inspiration is deep routed in her imagination. It branches out into the world around her consisting of anime, various cultures, color, people, patterns, buildings, cartoons, shapes, etc. She is deeply in love with Dorothy Dandridge, Josephine Backe, Marilyn Monroe, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Coco Chanel, and Harajuku Culture. What sets ReBeL apart from other designers is the ability to put all the time, care, effort and love into each garment that she makes. She has a wild aesthetic and that reflects in the clothes that she makes, whether it’s the fabric, the design features or the overall silhouette. She likes her designs “ignorant and over the top”.

ReBeL refuses to follow the larger fashion trends, she hopes to save the
world from conformity one outfit at a time. She wants everyone to know about Deviant ReBeL Clothing because it’s not just about the outfits; it’s an attitude. Individuals that wear our clothing don’t mind standing out in a crowd. Her pieces are dramatic and when you put on a Deviant ReBeL Clothing piece you must exude your confidence and dress outside the box unleashing your inner rebel. She strives to maintain individuality and uniqueness in the clothing that she designs.

Using alternative patterns & fabrics, the clothing tends to be a little on the risqué side, but can be whimsical in nature also. There is a futuristic element mixed in with the 1940s, all the way up to modern day and she likes to mix and match designs in each collection. She believes that individuality is a movement and not a phase.

2013 was one of our biggest years, we were featured in four online magazines (VEIN Magazine, Bleep Magazine, Styles Etiquette and Urban Newz), we were in Connecticut Fashion Week, Boston Fashion Week, and New York Fashion week in 2013 and we style a well-known vocal artist, Vylette, from Boston, Ma. We were honored to be in the 2014 FDC Gala Collections Showcase in London.

In 2015, we are looking to grow futher and spread our love of fashion to the world. Be on the look out Deviant ReBeL Clothing is on the rise.
