About Me

Tom Fraud's photographs looks like movie stills. There is nothing static about them. There is movement beneath the image, in the faces of his models, and in the suggestiveness and stories of the images. Some photographs are limited to only ever being a 2d image, and whilst a person can look beautiful, perfect even, in an image that is static, it is impossible to imagine that there is a story created around the photograph or the person in that photo. Tom though, evokes a feeling of personality and depth, that you can see when you look in to the eyes of the person in the photo.

I felt like more than a model when we shot, I felt like an actress at times, and at others, like I had become an exaggerated version of myself. There is a vulnerability underlying in our photographs together, and that's because you see a little of me in them. I looked at one particular photo we shot together for a long time when I first saw it. I had never seen myself look the way I did in a photograph before, not in the sense of appearance, but, emotionally there was something more than id seen before. I had never been able to look at myself so objectively, from an outsiders perspective.

Tom's photographs have a realism and raw beauty to them that cannot be avoided or denied. They are the kind of photographs that can only be created by someone who has natural ability and creativity within them from the beginning. The moments that Tom captures on film, for me at least, go far beyond just a photograph or a modelling shoot, they read into something deeper; they move into who you are. The rare ability to capture a person so precisely on film, without a doubt, is a beautiful talent to have as a photographer; and Tom embodies this talent completely.
