About Me

When one interacts with Colin T. McDonald, successful stylist and fashion commentator, they are first struck by his outgoing personality, followed by an in-depth knowledge of the fashion industry, along with a keen and discerning eye.

Raised in Upstate New York, Colin grew up in an environment surrounded by women, which shaped his approach to fashion at an early age. By his own admission, Colin was a very coordinated individual with definite ideas about how he wanted his image conveyed to those who came in contact with him, which became evident during his high school years. Although his ability to be different and stylish at the same time became a source of ridicule, Colin found a way to positively influence his peers – who often asked for his fashion related advice. Colin’s style was (and still is) very polished, something his peers came to appreciate. For Colin, fashion was a way to repel his struggles, yet empower him with a sense of confidence he needed.

Colin began his career by working in public relations, working at some of New York’s top PR firms. It was there that Colin arranged meetings for top-tier clients like Vogue and GQ Magazines– a first for many of these firms. He also gained knowledge in marketing, working for fashion designers like Ralph Lauren for several years, and on national marketing campaigns under the Club Monaco label. Colin utilized his talents, as he interacted and worked with celebrity clients including: Renee Zellweger, Bruce Willis, Amanda Seyfried, Minnie Driver, and DJ Skye. These experiences also provided exposure to various editors from renowned fashion publications, where he introduced them to new collections for fashion editorial features.

Colin landed the opportunity of a lifetime, which allowed him to work with and mentored by, nationally recognized style expert, Mary Alice Stephenson. During this assignment, a new world opened up to Colin and provided him with memorable experiences including; working on the set of The Oprah Winfrey Show, and an exclusive White House photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar magazine featuring First Lady Michelle Obama. It also led to him to work with some of the world’s most luxurious and prestigious brands, mainstream and fashion media outlets, retailers, and emerging designer names - all of whom sought his advice and style expertise. Colin was able to hone his craft, while at the same time creating a platform for him as a fashion commentator/expert. Colin’s eye for details while observing the world around him, propels him to seize new opportunities. His newest venture fills a void in the fashion industry – a niche, consulting firm working with emerging designers in terms of brand development, marrying his experiences as a stylist, publicist, consultant, blogger, fashion commentator and Red Carpet host.

In late 2012, Colin expanded his efforts to entrepreneurship by creating a consulting firm - The Colin T. McDonald Agency. Colin’s major reasons for creating the agency are personal as well as professional: “I wanted to combine all my areas of expertise, creating a platform like nothing anyone’s seen before. I’ve come to realize what I truly love to do is create and build things. I love the feeling of helping others achieve their creative goals. The Colin T. McDonald Agency, styleSOURCE and styleTV are connected to allow my clients to be viewed in a variety of ways other than through a traditional approach.”

Colin sees his newest ventures as a way to educate fashion aficionados while using cutting-edge, social media through his own YouTube Channel - StyleTV. StyleTV is a channel, showcasing the world of fashion – old guard as well as rising industry talent, along with the hottest trends and events. Colin’s easy interview style with guests, balances well with a team of correspondents, who equally engage with fashion tastemakers in a fun and informative way that will attract many viewers.

In addition to his creative efforts, Colin has a strong need to “give back” to the community. He calls it a “fashion for good” type movement, volunteering his time for New York City based non-profit organizations like: The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Bob Woodruff Foundation and Renewal Care Partners.
