Sharlene Estrella Borromeo is the Owner and Designer of A’doreus. At the age of 33, the Designer leads with conviction to be a pioneer of Plus Size Designers in San Diego. Being a Plus Size woman herself, Sharlene understood the struggles more than 40% of all American women who wear a size 14+ face when it comes to fashion. The plus size market is under represented and with available options so limited, Sharlene joined the fashion industry in 2005 to revolutionize Plus Size fashion- starting in her hometown.

San Diego native, Sharlene, is the youngest of 3 daughters who were raised in a traditional Filipino household. Attending Fashion Careers College at the age of 26 and pursuing a career in fashion was not graciously accepted by her parents who envisioned her to have a career in the medical field. But after obtaining a Fashion Business and Technology Degree in 2007, a Fashion Design and Technology Degree in 2009, an extensive internship with world renowned Designer, Zandra Rhodes, Sharlene has proven her tenacity and continues to progress as a Designer with the support of her followers and family.

After interning for Zandra Rhodes in college, she is now an Assistant Painter for Zandra Rhodes who has says she was “very lucky when Sharlene came along. She loves learning things and has a wonderful work ethic … “ Under the direction of her Mentor, Zandra Rhodes, Sharlene has hand painted Pologeorgis leather goods that have been sold in Neiman Marcus, as well as denim that was sold in an Australian boutique. Sharlene’s hand painted artistry has also been seen on costumes for the Japanese play, the Floating World and has benefited the UCSD Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center for 6 years. Sharlene has 16 years of retail/management experience and continues to work for Starbucks while she designs.

Showcasing the A’doreus S/S 2014 plus size collection is a collaborative effort with local artists who support A’doreus’ design philosophy that is deeply rooted in embracing diversity and size acceptance through the many facets of fashion. A’doreus caters to full figured women by creating romantic designs with the use of classic style lines and an eclectic mixture of textures and prints.
