About Me

I am going into my second career which is fashion design. While most people start out early in this field I however, got a late start. After 12 years of being in Customer Service, I had had enough. Working in that field taught me a lot about how to treat people as customer's and I value my experience but the work was sometime very unappreciated by the people you help. It was stressful and rather than to keep ignoring the signs that it was time to go I followed my heart and got out, which has given me time to reflex on what next. I've always had a love for fashion, even when I was a child but I never could get passed my fears to be more than I was. Now, I'm in my 40's and starting my career over after raising 3 kids I have one still in the nest but he's about to spread his wings too so I thought to myself, now is the time. I started school for fashion design last fall after sewing my son a costume for holloween. I found it so relaxing and satisfying to make something with my own hands. I felt so relaxed and my creativity which I thought had long disappeared returned to me again you see, I was and am an artist by nature but I denied myself of those luxuries because I started having kids when I was 21 so I had to get a job and work to feed my children and I felt I couldn't do what I really wanted to do which was be a singer and fashion, those were my passions but I had to let them go or so I thought. Now, years later I felt the time is right. No more children to raise, although I find myself helping my adult children a lot they don't have to depend on mom anymore. What I want from this site is a chance to work with people that are like minded, trying to reach a goal to be what they are supposed to become and to work with them reaching our goal together possibly. My style has evolved over the years of course changing through time. I've always stayed true to that part of who I am in fashion though. I would describe it as Afrocentric because of the era I grew up in 70's, 80's, 90's but with a modern flare. I love things that are retro 20's,30's, 40's, 50's, and making them modern as well. I just started my own site to make clothing for people on a personal basis with some ready to wear but it will definitely have the couture aspect where the customer gets to pick the outfit and I sew it specifically for them to fit their body.
