Sophia Parkinson is a talented makeup artist with professional experience in print, media, film, fashion, bridal makeup artistry and airbrushing. After completing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica she made the move to New York in 2008. Despite being new to the City and more so, new to the industry she wasted no time in taking the necessary steps towards her passion in makeup artistry. She received professional training at the Empire school of beauty, under the instruction of renowned artists LaSonya Gunter and Orlando Santiago.She has since taken time to perfect her craft by working on fashion shows and special events as well as on photo shoots, doing professional headshots and testing with photographers to build experience and network. She later went on to assist some of the most highly acclaimed makeup artist including Lancôme’s International artist, Tarek Abbas who she assists with fashion shows as well as Sally Duvall, who she assisted with weddings.

Gaining valuable knowledge from her experiences in the field, she is able to work under the pressures of New York Fashion week as well as private events and weddings. Her warm personality and uplifting spirit is contagious as she believes in generating and sustaining positive energy with her clients. She believes that makeup is not only a great tool to enhance natural beauty and to transform, but it is her way of touching people’s lives in a positive way.

Always learning on the job, she has a deep appreciation for nature and enjoys working with different colors, textures and studied techniques to achieve the desired look. Often describing her passion as therapeutic and relaxing, she meets each project with enthusiasm and professionalism and places special emphasis on proper research and preparation before embarking on a project.
