Ashley Chai-Chang, AKA Asha Chai, is a multi-talented, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic singer-songwriter, dancer, actress, author, director, producer, humanitarian, and entrepreneur. Born October 1987 in New York and raised in New York and the suburbs of Washington DC, Asha’s core ethnic background is comprised of Jamaican, Cuban, and Chinese.


She studied music and dance in world-renown schools such as The Jofferey Ballet School and performed at internationally recognized venues such as The White House, The National Cathedral, The John F. Kennedy Center, and The Lincoln Theater before becoming an international entertainer. At a young age, she had a natural skill to dance; her long legs, grace, and confident demeanor landed her lead dance positions in ballet performances throughout the country.


As a preteen, Asha discovered a natural talent in singing and became one of the few, elite singers in the Watkins Mill Chamber Singers. During this milestone, she learned to sing in over 10 different languages, performed with Grammy-Award winning artists, like the Washington Chorus and National Symphony Orchestra. As an operatically trained contralto, her wide singing range in over five octaves, ease with various dialects/languages, and warm tone enabled her to be a well-sought after singer. By age 13, she was also a published author, premiering her poetry in “Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans.”


Although Asha is known for her animated expressions, taking direction well, and leading with ease, it was her vocal abilities and extensive dance background that gained her roles in musicals and productions like “Oklahoma!”, “Once Upon A Mattress”, “The Vagina Monologues”, and “Rocky Horror Picture Show: LIVE!”. She gained extensive experience behind-the-scenes as well and became Executive Director and Producer of her own television show, “The Talk Spot.”


Progressing as a versatile actress, Asha has been featured in productions like USA Network’s Falacci/Heuton Pilot, Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro”, Independent films (i.e. The Shift), NBC Universal/ Telemundo’s “La Voz Kids”, CBS Morning Show, Rock of Ages film, Celebrity Interviewer, Top 100 artist music videos, and “Aberdeen & Smith” sketch comedy series.


As a humanitarian, her company, Love My Productions sponsors and organizes the “Gift of Art Gala” for which the proceeds go to benefit children. Asha also supports and volunteers as/with: NFL Ambassador, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, Miss Maryland Teen USA Finalist, Junior Statesmen of America -chapter President and founder, and Certified Peer Educator.


Asha’s entrepreneurial spirit is a creative expression of her versatility, multi-dimensional perspective, business know-how, and proven success which allows Asha to skillfully run her own Event Planning company, Love My Productions. Her latest project A.S.A.P (“Asha's Sensual Aspiration Posters”) is set to launch Fall 2013. Educationally, Asha has completed her studies at Yale University and The University of Hartford.


Asha has been awarded for her exemplary commitment to serving the community by winning awards like Martin Luther King, Jr “Children of the Dream” award, National Humanities Endowment Scholar, “Spotlight Student”, United Negro College Fund Scholar, and Express for Success Scholar.
